Tourist History studio-song reference; no-capo practice reduction, not a full studio transcription
Source-researched F#-minor practice arrangement with reduced triads, a complete short melody phrase and explicit timing limitations.
Research record Collected while preparing this sheet
Read Hooktheory song/section statistics, ChordU timed chord text, the Academy PDF text, and the named 2010 Ringenbach tab during authoring. The PDF browser screenshot failed, so its text extraction was used. Compared relative-key labels, tempo values, capo arithmetic, section inventories and the shared tab text. Chose a standard-tuned, no-capo triad reduction and one short complete melody phrase with explicit practice timing. No audio was independently auditioned; video search descriptions were not treated as lesson consultation. All chord diagrams and Roman degrees were derived from sounding pitches. Claim-level evidence and fidelity records were added retrospectively from retained summaries; missing precise source locations are explicitly identified, and no claims were upgraded to supported.
Recording independently checked: No.

Song · key inferred
F# minor is the selected tonal frame; F# minor is the chosen tonal center, supported by Hooktheory and the F#m-centered Academy cycles. ChordU labels relative-major A; both share F# G# A B C# D E. Standard EADGBE and no capo are explicit practice preferences corroborated by ChordU and the lead tab. Shape key equals sounding F# minor. Ringenbach rhythm capo 8 is inconsistent (Am shapes would sound F minor); the Academy capo-9 alternative would produce F#m but is unnecessary.

Harmonic interpretationMeter, duration & feel Harmonic interpretation
Hooktheory explicitly gives 4/4 and 140 BPM; ChordU gives 138.75. This sheet interprets the stated pulse as quarter notes and rounds to 140. Academy bar-separated cycles motivate four bars for intro/chorus and verse and two for break, with four quarter units per chord; these are practice normalization, not a verified duration map. The complete first 24-note phrase is placed on an authored eighth-note grid with gaps, preserving pitch order while simplifying rhythm. Eighth-note strums and accents are suggestions. Repeat counts, passing chords and recording microtiming remain untranscribed. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Choosing material for a looper Playing suggestion
Choose the entire F#m–A–D–F#m cycle: it returns to the minor tonic and supports the featured first melody phrase. The complete F#m–E–C#m–D verse cycle gives different chord-tone destinations; its D-to-F#m wrap shares F# and A. The two-bar F#m–C#m break is a separate sparse option. These are simplified practice loops with normalized durations. With at most two simultaneous tracks, a compatible accompaniment plus melody is sufficient; unlike cycles are alternatives, not layers to stack. The second riff variant and full song order are omitted to keep a small reference, not to truncate the selected phrase. [3] [2]
Improvisation choices Playing suggestion
Suggested palette: F# natural minor, F# G# A B C# D E; or begin with F# minor pentatonic, F# A B C# E. Aim at A/C# on F#m, C#/E on A, F# on D, G# on E, E/G# on C#m. Add D and G# where pentatonic omits defining harmony. A over E or C#m and D over C#m are tensions, not equally settled notes. The minor v uses E natural, so E# from harmonic minor is not required. Dmaj7 and C#m7 source colors remain diatonic but were omitted from diagrams. Use short questions and answers with gaps. These are authored suggestions inferred from the chord map, not recorded-solo claims. [3] [2]
Cross-checks & arrangement decisions
F# minor versus A major; tuning and capo. Use F# minor (relative of A) with standard tuning/no capo. Capo-8 Am would sound F minor, so reject that rhythm-tab instruction; no transposition is applied. [1] [2] [4]
Tempo and exact rhythm. Use approximately 140 quarter-note BPM in 4/4 (ChordU 138.75). The charted holds and lead onsets are explicitly normalized practice timing, not recording-verified durations. [1] [2]
Chord colors and source independence. Reduce Dmaj7/C#m7 to D/C#m, retaining their roots and quality. Academy and Ringenbach share riff text and count as one lineage; Hooktheory and ChordU provide separate corroboration. [3] [2] [4]
Limits of this edition
- The recording was not independently auditioned; exact chord-change timing, lead articulation and tempo pulse were not measured against audio.
- This is a simplified practice map: one bar per chord, triads for seventh chords, and a short complete lead phrase on an authored eighth-note grid.
- Passing harmonies, the second lead-phrase variant and full song order/repeat counts are omitted; consult the recording before performing an exact cover.
- Academy and Ringenbach riff evidence is shared. Hooktheory and ChordU are independent corroboration but community/algorithmic sources are not authoritative transcriptions.

GuitarTabsExplorer · Lineage: ringenbach-2010-tab · Named April 2010 community transcription; same riff appears in the Academy PDF. Treated as the origin of that shared riff evidence, not a second independent check.
